Sneak Peek… {newborn} Colston | Eastside Newborn Photographer

Meet snuggle bug Colston, the firstborn of Kristen and Franco (whom you’ve seen before at their ah-maz-ing  maternity session,) and little brother to a teeny little furball. Colston had his newborn session on his eleventh day of life and he was a sweet little snuggler who definitely appreciated the ninety degree room his session took place in. Kristen was also with me in the ninety degree room for three hours and was a real sport about it. I’d have to say all the sweat and little accidents from baby C were worth it. Check out his images below!

Sneak Peek… | {6 months old} Kingston

Big, big boy | Everett Baby Photographer

6 months have passed already? I can hardly believe it! First, the maternity session. Then, a newborn session. Now, he is back for a rolly, polly celebration of his half birthday! Kingston took a wonderful early morning nap for his session last Saturday and was more than happy to be poked, prodded, moved, propped and changed for about 35 minutes. Then, this little chunker got a little sleepy and was more than ready for snuggles.

I can’t wait to see him again soon! Enjoy!!

House Framing | 366 Adventures Day 3

Posted on February 12, 2012

Son, here is how you frame a gabled wall.

In 26 days, Jeff and I leave for Roatan. Kids go to my in-laws, cousin comes to house sit and watch the dog, and this husband and wife duo go to a third world country to build two homes for some amazing folks. Today, we payed up our final dollars in the $4000 bill to go serve others for a week (thanks again to all those that donated to our cause!), had lunch, and then did a mock-up framing exercise. R wanted little to nothing to do with us and preferred to rest on his laurels indoors with my iPad.

Many nails were harmed in the making of this blog post.

Today, I am 29. | 366 Adventures

Posted on February 10, 2012

I feel time passing.

February 10, 2012 marks the first day in a year of days mourning the impending passing of my 20s. Today, I turned 29. In 366 days (leap year!) I will hit 30. THIRTY.

Laughing are you? Go right ahead. I’m usually the youngest amongst most of my friends, colleagues and peers (since I am SO mature and all) so the likeliness that YOU, dear reader, are over the 30 hill is quite possible. Yuck it up! I still have a year’s worth of time to spend in my youth.

And I plan to make it a grand, grand year. This is the year I pledge to my husband, my children, and myself to have 366 adventures.

Less work, more play. Less my way, more His way. Less time in front of the computer and on Facebook and more time face-to-face. Less naps, more fun. Less TV and more art projects. Less time thinking up time occupying activities for the kids so I can sneak in an email or twenty and more time outside in the dirt and fresh air. Less distraction, more love. Less fast food, more real food. Less excuses, more action. Less ‘nos’ and more ‘yeses’. Less yelling, more tenderness. Less bickering, sarcasm and cursing and more thoughtfulness.

Less biding my time and more appreciating every single day with fun… an adventure.

It won’t always be of grand scale, or messy, or original. But it will be full of love and better than an hour of Netflix. I hope to share with you daily, but possibly weekly, our daily adventure. Sometimes just an image, no words. Maybe an Instagram or iPhone image. Maybe a rambling story full of images or a drawing. We’ll see where the adventure takes us.

Today is 366 Adventures Day One: Pillow Fight

Send me to Creative Live with Sandy Puc!

Posted on February 9, 2012

FYI, there is an awesome web-based learning team based out of Seattle!

creativeLIVE is about providing the best free, live creative education on the web. Their studio is in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, and they offer free online workshops in photography, video, web and graphic design, app development and a wide array of other creative topics.

Why am I sharing this with you? Well, the weekend of February 24th, their latest workshop will showcase Sandy Puc as the awesome instructor and newborn/baby photography as the topic. For each webinar, the creativeLIVE team selects a certain amount of photographers to participate. I’d love to be one of the lucky few to work alongside Sandy and visit the creativeLIVE team.

The catch? I have to submit a video ‘audition’ or sorts to be considered. Now, I just learned of this particular webinar a mere 3 days ago. AND, for the last three days, I’ve been down and out with the flu. Not the most awesome combination for taping an audition video for sure. However, I decided not to let the pukes get me down and do what I could… all from the discomfort of my own bed.

So, here it is! My audition. No make-up. No script. No special effects or editing. One take.

Pick me! I’d love to join!!

Sneak Peek… {baby} Sofia

As Sweet as Sugar Candy | Everett Baby Photographer

Sofia is back! The last time we saw her as a 40 day old for her newborn session. This little muffin is one of my favorites. She has a wonderful dog, lovely mum, funny dad and a great disposition. We spent a few hours last Friday playing dress up, singing songs and playing peek-a-boo. Miss Sofia gave me a HUGE range of expressions and is being justly rewarded with an extra large sneak peek. I just can’t resist!

I am very fond of baby Kellan’s nickname… Mr. Crabby Pants. How cute is that? I’d love to be able to say that the title doesn’t fit the bill… buuuuut… Kellan definitely didn’t have many smiles for me! A few -yes! Thankfully, I will get to see him 3 more times in the next 9 or so months since mommy and daddy signed him up for a Baby Plan. I’m betting the next time I see him, it will be all gummy, drooly smiles and rolly poly muscle arms. :)
